About

Writer/director Joseph Greco’s first feature film CANVAS starred Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden and Emmy Award winner Joe Pantoliano. Canvas won the Alice in the City prize at the Rome Film Festival and was heralded by the late Roger Ebert, who selected the film for screening at his own EbertFest. The New York Times called it “a movie that rings emotionally true, with an inner core of integrity and goodness.” Canvas was released theatrically by Screen Media, and on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment. The film is currently available on Apple TV.

Born and raised in Hollywood, Florida and a graduate of the Florida State University Film School, Greco’s first film was the award-winning short LENA’S SPAGHETTI, which premiered at the Telluride Film Festival. He has had scripts optioned by prominent producers, including Dale Johnson (Lost City of Z) and Andy Horwitz (American Hustle). He is also working on several projects with his friend and co-writer, David Zeltser, including THE UNNATURALS, which was developed at Nichelle and Malcolm Spellman’s company, The 51. Greco is also a freelance commercial producer whose clients include The Walt Disney Company.

Greco is a director member of the DGA and The Actors Studio, and learned the movie business under the mentorship of the late George Hickenlooper and Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron, while working at Lightstorm Entertainment. He is a sailor and resides with his wife, Jing and their dog Lilly in Los Angeles.
