About Me

Writer, Director

bborn and raised in Hollywood, Florida, and a graduate of the Florida State Film School, writer/director JOSEPH GRECO’s first feature film CANVAS starred Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden and Emmy Award winner Joe Pantoliano. Canvas won the Alice in the City sidebar at the Rome Film Festival and was heralded by the late Roger Ebert, who selected the film for screening at his own EbertFest. The New York Times called it “a movie that rings emotionally true…. with an inner core of integrity and goodness.” Canvas was released theatrically by Screen Media, and on DVD by Universal Studios Home Entertainment.

Greco’s first movie was the acclaimed short film LENA’S SPAGHETTI, which premiered at the Telluride Film Festival. He is currently working on several new projects with David Zeltser, and is attached to direct the upcoming sports-drama FIRECRACKERS for producer Dale Johnson (Lost City of Z).  Greco is also a freelance filmmaker & commercial producer whose clients include The Walt Disney Company.  He is a director member of the Directors Guild of America and The Actors Studio, and learned the movie business under the mentorship of the late George Hickenlooper and Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron, while working at Lightstorm Entertainment. Greco is also an award-winning magician and an inducted member of The Magic Castle. He is a sailor and resides with his wife and two dogs in Los Angeles.
