bborn and raised in Hollywood, Florida and a graduate of Florida State Film School, writer / director Joseph Greco’s first feature film CANVAS, starred Academy Award winner Marcia Gay Harden & Emmy Award winner Joe Pantoliano.  Canvas won the Alice in the City family film sidebar at the Rome Film Festival and was heralded by the late Roger Ebert, who selected the film for screening at his own EbertFest. The New York times called it “a movie that rings emotionally true… with an inner core of integrity and goodness.” Screen Media Films released Canvas theatrically and on Netflix, and Universal Studios Home Entertainment released the film on home video.

Joseph Greco is driven by true stories and is developing his next films, FIRECRACKERS and SOLO, both inspired by real life characters. He is also currently adapting and co-writing Lygia Penaflor’s young adult novel Unscripted Joss Byrd. Greco is a freelance filmmaker whose clients include The Walt Disney Company. He is a member of the Directors Guild of America, and learned the movie business under the mentorship of the late great George Hickenlooper and Oscar-winning filmmaker James Cameron, while working at Lightstorm Entertainment. Greco’s first movie was the award-winning short film LENA’S SPAGHETTI, which premiered at the Telluride Film Festival.  Greco is a director member of the renowned Actors Studio.  He also an award-winning magician and an inducted member of The Magic Castle. He resides with his wife, Jing Tian, in Los Angeles.
